This Nottingham project was a particular challenge because it was set in a walled garden that was listed. There was an existing cottage built against the listed wall garden and the challenge was to refurbish and remodel this to provide an accessible bedroom and bathroom for our client. The main challenge though was to design an extension to provide a multipurpose living and kitchen space for our client and her carers.

We decided to be bold and provide a striking piece of architecture that gives the appearance of the extension growing out of the existing house and walled garden. This was achieved by using a simple palette of materials to break up the forms but all kept together by a large over-sailing upward curving roof.
