Presented with a bungalow on a large plot, the plan was to knock this down and provide an accessible home that was future proofed for a young boy with CP and his family. We designed the house to be a beautiful, functional machine in which to live, consisting of a main central wide corridor to easily navigate through the house and off which hang all the accessible living spaces and a large accessible bedroom and bathroom interlinked by hoists.

We also provided a highly serviced sensory room with lots of stimulating equipment, as well as the usual large utility room with double washing machine, kitchen/dining room and a lounge with a hoist and carers rooms, as well as another smaller private lounge for some quiet family time. The bedroom and private lounge look over a sensory garden and at the front is a large double garage, whilst a cantilevered canopy with a green roof provides covered access into the house.

This is a very contemporary home that has been future proofed with a space for a lift and also with more bedrooms at first floor for the extended family. The house was also designed to meet code four for sustainable design compliance.
